The IESP is a panel of energy users and producers that exist to challenge the assumptions of government about Energy Policy. The panel looks behind the figures reported by government and Ofgem to check their adequacy. To that extent the Panel scrutinises the calculations of the public bodies officially tasked with monitoring energy policy.
The panel was created in October 2005 and is currently chaired by John Hemming MP.Any market participant who wishes to join the panel should write to John Hemming at the House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA.
Applications to join the panel will be considered by the panel via email. The panel meets very infrequently, most communication is via email.

"The main issue that affects the UK energy supply balance is the demand caused by cold weather. Hence the weather forecast is important. The point about this demand is that it is not directly sensitive to the spot price."
